Fund Texas Choice
About This Fund: For those who don’t have a car, we provide bus or plane tickets to the nearest clinic which can help you decide whether you can access an abortion, in any state. We work with clinics to offset fuel costs if a car is available for transportation. Any person driving several hours to an abortion clinic needs a place to stay before and after their procedure. Additionally, Texas law requires a 24-hour waiting period for anyone who chooses abortion. This means most abortion appointments are a minimum of 2-days long: one day for the consultation and a second for the procedure. Longer procedures can last as long as 5 days, not counting travel time. We book with friendly hotels vetted by our group or suggested by the clinic. You may have heard about the 6-week abortion ban that went into effect September 1, 2021. This law does not criminalize a person for obtaining an abortion. Rather, those who perform abortions or assist a person in obtaining an abortion after 6-weeks may face civil liability. Moreover, with the recent overturn of Roe v. Wade we fear. Texas laws against abortions with contine. Fund Texas Choice continues to serve pregnant people who are seeking abortion-related services and information in compliance with the law to the best of our understanding. About The Host Organization: Fund Texas Choice envisions a society in which abortion is embraced as healthcare and a human right. As a human right, abortion is equitably accessible across political, economic and social systems so that people have autonomous bodies and futures supported by powerful and vibrant communities.

MOVE with us to support Young People's Mental Health! The EMEA Talent Acquisition Team at VMware is #MOVING 20km in the 2 weeks from 27th June - 11th July to support YPMH on their pursuit to reduce the number of young people who experience mental health problems. "More young people than ever are suffering from depression. The condition has a huge and potentially devastating impact on them, their family and friends. It accounts for the largest share of the world’s burden of disease by years lost to disability, and it has a significant economic and wider social impact. Thus, it should be everybody’s business. Nonetheless, treatments have changed little in 30 years. Current treatments for depression in under-18s are effective in 60% of cases, and 50–75% experience a relapse, even after successful treatment. There is a clear and compelling need for a new way forward." (YPMH: Changing Hearts, Changing Minds, 2021) The William Templeton Foundation For Young People's Mental Health is working on closing the gap between new scientific research findings and often outdated practice or treatments by facilitating engagement between key groups and developments for the future. Exercise has been found to improve people's mental health and decrease stress so we want everyone to #GETMOVING, either alone or as a team. Interested in Participating? We would ask for a 5$ (or however much you can) donation as a sign up fee. Once you start #GETMOVING, get friends and family involved, track your kilometers and share your progress with everyone. MOVING can be anything from walking to running, cycling, swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, you-name-it 20km in 2 weeks sounds like its impossible to do? Why not share the 20km and get together as a team? This way everyone can MOVE however much they feel like they are able to, and you can add up everyone’s kilometers at the end. If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to contact koriana@vmware.com and now... #GETMOVING!

Support Abdullah, Anna, Lewis and Rami with the El Camino de Santiago (Camino 2022) Fund
From June 6th-10th, over 400 Cisco employees, families, and friends from 21 countries will be hiking the Camino de Santiago in support of the fight against cancer. Our team the “WANderers” – sorry to those in IT, will be hiking 115km of the French route in the aid of Cancer Research UK. Cancer Research UK is an independent charity funding vital research for the treatment and prevention of Cancer, they also contribute to cancer policy, national strategy, and educational communication. Their many contributions to the fight against cancer are best summarised in the following timeline: https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/our-progress The NHS predicts 1 in 2 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime, and the World Health Organization accounts cancer to nearly one in six deaths worldwide. I’m certain for many of you these statistics will strike a chord personally, for myself, it took my late Grandfather Lewis Smith - one of the most fantastic men that I’ve known and who continues to be a constant inspiration to this day. Without the incredible work of charities such as Cancer Research UK, this disease is a bleak sentence, so for our time in Camino, we will walk for those researchers and carers who treat and assist our loved ones, and we will walk for those affected by cancer, especially those who no longer can. Thank you for your donation, even as little as £1 can fund anything from apparatus to the establishment of full-scale research centres. Lewis, Abdullah, Anna, and Rami.
