MOVE with us to support Young People's Mental Health! The EMEA Talent Acquisition Team at VMware is #MOVING 20km in the 2 weeks from 27th June - 11th July to support YPMH on their pursuit to reduce the number of young people who experience mental health problems. "More young people than ever are suffering from depression. The condition has a huge and potentially devastating impact on them, their family and friends. It accounts for the largest share of the world’s burden of disease by years lost to disability, and it has a significant economic and wider social impact. Thus, it should be everybody’s business. Nonetheless, treatments have changed little in 30 years. Current treatments for depression in under-18s are effective in 60% of cases, and 50–75% experience a relapse, even after successful treatment. There is a clear and compelling need for a new way forward." (YPMH: Changing Hearts, Changing Minds, 2021) The William Templeton Foundation For Young People's Mental Health is working on closing the gap between new scientific research findings and often outdated practice or treatments by facilitating engagement between key groups and developments for the future. Exercise has been found to improve people's mental health and decrease stress so we want everyone to #GETMOVING, either alone or as a team. Interested in Participating? We would ask for a 5$ (or however much you can) donation as a sign up fee. Once you start #GETMOVING, get friends and family involved, track your kilometers and share your progress with everyone. MOVING can be anything from walking to running, cycling, swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, you-name-it 20km in 2 weeks sounds like its impossible to do? Why not share the 20km and get together as a team? This way everyone can MOVE however much they feel like they are able to, and you can add up everyone’s kilometers at the end. If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to contact koriana@vmware.com and now... #GETMOVING!

Support Abdullah, Anna, Lewis and Rami with the El Camino de Santiago (Camino 2022) Fund
From June 6th-10th, over 400 Cisco employees, families, and friends from 21 countries will be hiking the Camino de Santiago in support of the fight against cancer. Our team the “WANderers” – sorry to those in IT, will be hiking 115km of the French route in the aid of Cancer Research UK. Cancer Research UK is an independent charity funding vital research for the treatment and prevention of Cancer, they also contribute to cancer policy, national strategy, and educational communication. Their many contributions to the fight against cancer are best summarised in the following timeline: https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/our-progress The NHS predicts 1 in 2 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime, and the World Health Organization accounts cancer to nearly one in six deaths worldwide. I’m certain for many of you these statistics will strike a chord personally, for myself, it took my late Grandfather Lewis Smith - one of the most fantastic men that I’ve known and who continues to be a constant inspiration to this day. Without the incredible work of charities such as Cancer Research UK, this disease is a bleak sentence, so for our time in Camino, we will walk for those researchers and carers who treat and assist our loved ones, and we will walk for those affected by cancer, especially those who no longer can. Thank you for your donation, even as little as £1 can fund anything from apparatus to the establishment of full-scale research centres. Lewis, Abdullah, Anna, and Rami.

Cisco NL and Friends walk El Camino 2022 Fundraising
Over 400 Cisco employees, families and friends from 21 countries, are currently training to join in the adventure of hiking the famous Spanish 'Camino de Santiago' (The Way of Saint James) in June. During the period of the Camino, the combined team will walk more than 60,000 km, or 37,000 miles; equivalent to walking around the earth's equator one and a half times. The main purpose of this initiative is to raise funds for cancer support associations across the globe. We all have been impacted in some way by cancer, and in support of the efforts of "Los Caminantes", we are asking you to join us in the fight against cancer. We will walk an average of twenty-three kilometers per day. Every 5 minutes, which is equivalent to every 500 meters of walking, someone in the Netherlands gets diagnosed with cancer. For each day we walk, 46 people will have gotten bad news that severely disrupted their and their loved ones' lives. Every amount donated to this cause will help! It can make a difference to someone facing one of the most difficult times of their life or to help make their last moments on earth count. The NL team has chosen to support KWF, whose main goals are to prevent cancer wherever they can, to stimulate better treatment for every type of cancer, to aim for a better quality of life for (recovered) patients and their loved ones, and to ensure that high quality palliative care is available to all patients. Sponsor us and help KWF fund important research into cancer. On behalf of Cisco NL and Friends and KWF: thank you! ❗️To give you some extra motivation - you now have the chance to win a SodaStream among other prices and all you need to do is donate a minimum 20€ by June 10th the latest and forward the confirmation email to josterfe@cisco.com. For every 20€ donated (before Cisco matching), you will receive 1 lottery ticket and winners are announced by June 13 ⛲😎 Not part of Cisco and still want to support us?
