The Lost Enzyme Project was created by the families of children diagnosed with Beta-mannosidosis in the United States in collaboration with the University of California Irvine Foundation, Kimonis Laboratory, and JCR Pharmaceuticals to create a novel enzyme replacement therapy. Our project, working through the University of California Irvine Foundation, has set a goal of raising $520,925.00 by August 1, 2025, to fund the development of a new treatment with JCR Pharmaceuticals. In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change that. Last year I swam 2 miles and was able to share the accomplishment with my mother present at the event! I will be swimming swimming 2 miles (3520 yards / 3219 meters) again this year to show my support, raise awareness, and fund raise for cancer research. WE NEED TO FIND A CURE!!! I am dedicating this swim to my mother, Ursula Pugh, 6 year survivor of breast cancer and a good friends and colleagues whom we lost to cancer at the beginning of 2023: Joe Ruggiero and Bill Taylor. For my friends Gigi Madrid and Mary Ann Gottachalk Overturf whom are champions and fighters battling this disease today, and to all my family and friends that I have lost over the recent years; Ned Sexton, Tony Simpson (Throat), Malcolm Murphy (Bladder), Carol Grenier (Brain), Mr. Robinson (Pancreatic), Guy Merinac (Pancreatic), Herman Fons (Stomach), and many other countless losses. This project aims to provide financial aid to patients in India, affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy Spinal Muscular Atrophy (“SMA”) is a neuro-muscular, progressive, genetic disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It is the number one genetic cause of death for infants. SMA is caused by a mutation in the survival motor neuron gene 1 (SMN1). The SMA-affected children and adults are cognitively bright and are budding professionals in various streams, but are physically dependent on their family members, friends, or guardians for any of their daily basic mobility needs. There are 4 types of SMA, SMA Type 1 to Type 4, and many finer variations among these categories. Impact Guru identifies these patients who need financial support for their Hospital and related medical expenses, and supports them through crowdfunding and raising grants. These treatments are using USFDA-approved drugs currently available as follows: - Disease-modifying therapy: These drugs stimulate the production of SMN protein. Nusinersen (Spinraza®) is FDA-approved for both children and adults. Your provider injects the drug into the space around the spinal canal. - Gene replacement therapy: Children younger than two may benefit from a one-time intravenous (IV) infusion of a drug called onasemnogene abeparvovec-xioi (Zolgensma®). This therapy replaces a missing or faulty SMN1 gene with a functioning gene - A different medication, Risdaplam (Evrysdi®), helps adults and children older than two months. People take risdaplam daily by mouth (orally). We are currently raising funds to make medical drugs and treatment more affordable for those in need. Our goal is to support beneficiaries and provide them with access to life-saving resources that would otherwise be too expensive. ISKCON of Silicon Valley has formed a non profit, nonsectarian charitable food distribution program named “Free Veg Meals For All”. World hunger is a symptom of several root causes, including poverty, conflict, famine, disease, natural disasters/climate change, global economics, and issues with food availability and accessibility, among others. The following organizations are working towards their shared mission of solving the global hunger crisis. These organizations provide food resources to communities in need around the world, prepare and distribute meals during times of crisis and disaster, implement sustainable food programs, and develop policies to drive food distribution and improve food accessibility worldwide. We help low-income and below poverty line category students from India with nutritious afternoon meals in their schools. This effort is part of the Indian government led PM POSHAN (Mid-day meal) programme and aims to eliminate classroom hunger and counter malnutrition.

Pedal the Cause for cancer research. 100% of every dollar raised supports innovative cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Event Weekend: Saturday, September 23rd, and Sunday, September 24th riders will bike on 8 course options (6 road and 2 gravel), a signature Spin Zone, an Inspired virtual participation option and a Kids Challenge. You can ride anywhere from 11 miles to 100 miles! Employees who wish to ride/participate in the event should register directly on PTC website. Registration fees: $150 after, $50 for Inspired, and $50 for Kids Challenge. I have designed a custom jersey for Team Rabobank to wear during the event. They are in production and will be available to purchase prior to the event. Every rider has a fundraising goal as well. Hopefully, if you are not riding you can donate to your favorite coworker who is riding, and help them meet their goals. When donating in Bright Funds, you can select the box to add a note. In this box, you can add the participant's name. (ie: Donation for Joe Merlone on Team Rabobank). Timing is everything. Bright Funds disburses donations in the middle of the following month. We climb for awareness of sacrifices made by firefighters every-where. Each year, approximately 100 firefighters die while serving their communities. We will climb in the spirit of remembrance of the courage and honor displayed by those 403 fallen Emergency Responders. We climb to care for the firefighters who continue to assume these risks and for the families who share them.

The American Cancer Society reports that approximately 9,910 children in the United States under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer in 2023. Cancer is currently one of the leading causes of death in children in the United States, and the leading cause of death in children by disease. The following organizations are working towards a shared mission of ending childhood cancer and supporting children and families impacted by a pediatric cancer diagnosis. These organizations are providing supportive services for children and families impacted by pediatric cancer and utilizing research and advocacy to innovate medical treatments and increase awareness surrounding pediatric cancer in an effort to find a cure.

This project aims to provide financial support to the elderly in India, as we know, India is home to a large population of elderly people who have worked hard all their lives to provide for their families and contribute to society. Unfortunately, many of them are now facing a difficult situation due to a lack of resources and support. Impact Guru starting a fundraising cause to help elderly people in India who are struggling to make ends meet. Our goal is to raise enough funds to provide them with basic necessities such as food, shelter, and healthcare. With your help, we can make a real difference in the lives of these vulnerable members of our society. May is Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) Awareness Month. Many of you may remember the Ice Bucket Challenge from the videos of people dumping ice water over their heads to promote awareness of ALS and encourage donations to research. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing muscle weakness and eventually leading to paralysis. Living with ALS can be a complicated and overwhelming experience, but thankfully, many support services are available to help individuals and their families cope with the disease. By donating to ALS support services, you can help improve the lives of those living with ALS and provide a sense of hope and support for their loved ones. Medication and therapy can slow ALS and reduce discomfort, but there's no cure. This project aims at providing financial help to patients in India, suffering from Cancer, Impact Guru identifies these patients who need financial support for their Hospital Expenses, and supports them through crowdfunding and raising grants. Cancer is a disease in which some of the body’s cells grow uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can start almost anywhere in the human body, which is made up of trillions of cells. Normally, human cells grow and multiply (through a process called cell division) to form new cells as the body needs them. When cells grow old or become damaged, they die, and new cells take their place. Sometimes this orderly process breaks down, and abnormal or damaged cells grow and multiply when they shouldn’t. The estimated number of incident cases of cancer in India for the year 2022 was found to be 14,61,427 (crude rate:100.4 per 100,000). In India, one in nine people is likely to develop cancer in his/her lifetime. Lung and breast cancers were the leading sites of cancer in males and females, respectively. Among the childhood (0-14 yr) cancers, lymphoid leukemia (boys: 29.2% and girls: 24.2%) was the leading site. The incidence of cancer cases is estimated to increase by 12.8 percent in 2025 as compared to 2020. Globally, cancer is the leading cause of death, accounting for 10 million, or one in six, deaths in 2020, according to WHO. In India, too, cancer is the leading cause of death, with 7.84 lakh deaths recorded in 2018, and 13.92 lakh cases reported in 2020. As the cost break-up shows, cancer is an expensive illness to manage. Besides, screening for early detection, diagnostics, and treatment, it involves posttreatment care and rehabilitation. Help support the education, engagement, and empowerment of people affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI)!

Over 70 years ago, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) was founded by a family that lost its son to leukemia—a disease that was considered fatal at the time. Since its founding, LLS has evolved into the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to fighting blood cancers, pioneering many of today’s most innovative cancer treatments and therapies. Despite our tremendous progress, one simple fact remains: nearly 50,000 individuals lose their battle against cancer every year in the U.S. alone, and, unfortunately, some of those individuals are children. I am participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Visionaries of the Year (VOY) program. VOY is a ten-week philanthropic competition for leaders in New Jersey seeking to make an impact in the fight against cancer. I decided to enter the competition because I’ve personally saw people who lost their life to cancer. As health care costs in the country rise, I felt that partnering with LLS and participating in this campaign will allow me to help provide support to families impacted by cancer.
