Supporting organizations that are helping provide support to individuals and families impacted by the west coast wildfires and by COVID-19. These organizations are particularly focused on food and supplies for those impacted.

This is a list of local NGOs in Lebanon running appeals for Beirut following the devastating blast on August 4, 2020.

As a part of the July 22, 2020 Equity Action Plan update: "We have pre-qualified 26 racial justice and equity non-profit 501(c)3 organizations for our employee matching gift program". Here are all 26 of those pre-qualified organizations. I encourage you to research these organizations further to find which ones inspire you. You can click on a specific nonprofit, below, to donate directly to that organization. Alternatively, donating to this fund will help support all organizations at the same time. I had trouble locating this, so I hope this Fund will increase visibility and engagement.

Lebanon has already been heavily impacted by COVID-19, as well as an economic crisis that has forced tens of thousands into poverty; this latest disaster only exacerbates those prior struggles. Hello Folks, India has suffered a huge loss in terms of lives and property in states of Bihar, Assam, Kerala, Karnataka and other states. Amidst Covid, the relief work has been very difficult both economically and logistically and its important we all active citizens globally come forward to help. Extending this fund for Cyclone affected areas and North India WInters. GOONJ is actively working in all these states . On my birthday(August 15th) which I share with Indian Independence Day I am starting a campaign to fund raise for flood relief. All your donations are tax exempted as Goonj is listed NGO and they are also eligible for VMware matching. So, please wish me a Happy Birthday and help people affected because of floods. Current Data - Deaths - in 100s (135 Assam, 50 - Kerala, 35 - Bihar, 16 - Karnataka), and millions affected in terms of loss of property and evacuated from the area.

More than 200 people are known to have died, some are still missing, and thousands others have been injured. This came at a time when the Lebanese nation was already suffering from a catastrophic economic situation, an unprecedented pandemic and government corruption.

We have initially selected organizations that are on the ground assisting with immediate relief needs, including rescue efforts and medical assistance. We are all in shock witnessing the massive explosion that happened in Beirut on the 4th of August. This comes at a time when the Lebanese nation is already suffering from a catastrophic economic situation, an unprecedented pandemic and relentless government corruption. The impact was intense, rippling through several areas of the capital and could be heard 149 miles away on the island of Cyprus. According to the Lebanese Red Cross, the reported loss of life is more than 100 people and 4,000 injured. Currently, search and rescue teams are still digging through rubble looking for missing persons. There is significant damage to structures and authorities continue to assess damage. The exact cause of the explosion remains unconfirmed, though Lebanon authorities have stated that highly explosive material that has been stored at the port for years had blown up following a fire. Lebanese Red Cross teams are on the ground responding to humanitarian needs. All 125 Lebanese Red Cross ambulances are responding to the site of the explosion, rescuing and transporting the critically wounded to hospitals. On site, the Lebanese Red Cross is performing search and rescue in addition to treating people suffering from injuries. Triage and first aid stations have been set up across the Beirut port to treat injuries. Many Lebanese people have lost their homes and essentials. In response, the Lebanese Red Cross is providing emergency shelter for 1,000 families and anticipates providing shelter for as many as 10,000 families in the coming months. Food, water, hygiene kits, masks, gloves and other essentials are being distributed to vulnerable families in need. To meet emotional support needs, trained team members are providing crisis counseling to the community. For family members that have been separated by this event, the Red Cross Restoring Family Links program is reconnecting families. The primary focus is saving lives right now. As hospitals continue to be overwhelmed, the Lebanese Red Cross has 36 health centers and nine mobile medical units operating in all regions of the country. These medical services are provided to all people in need, free of charge. The money will be spent to the Lebanese Red Cross. Earlier this year, Courtney Brousseau, a former Civic Digital Fellow (and twitter employee for those who may have seen the headlines) tragically lost his life to an act completely random and senseless gun violence. In his honor, this fund has been created which were 10 non-profits that Courtney was donating to monthly at the time of his death. Note: At the time we cannot add San Francisco Bike Coalition because they are a 501(c)(4) - as opposed to a 501(c)(3).

In parts of Asia and Africa, women go through prolonged childbirth without adequate care. The result can be a devastating fistula. The condition leaves the woman incontinent, but worse, she can be rejected by society, her family, and even her husband. Affected women become pariahs, today’s lepers. The Fistula Foundation works to prevent fistula in the first place and provides surgery to correct it. Between 2009 and 2018, the Fistula Foundation provided 39,866 of these surgeries to women in 32 countries. This life-changing surgery can be provided for less than $600. The Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) is tackling poverty and inequality by supporting girls to go to school and succeed, and empowering young women to step up as leaders of change. Our model tackles inequality and unlocks the benefits that accrue from girls' education, igniting a wider social movement in girls' communities. O.U.R. paves the way for permanent eradication of Child Sex Trafficking through coordinated rescue and recovery planning. In the past six years of existence, O.U.R. has rescued 3,800 victims and assisted in the arrests of more than 2,100 traffickers around the world.

These are some of the incredible non-profits in Compton that we have had an opportunity to meet as we've started to build our next farm. They are all doing impactful work in Compton and are excited about Plenty joining their community, so let's show them some support!

A Fundraising Race Running a heart through Germany because societal needs are many and varied. No matter if children, elderly people or people in an area of crisis, there are many hot spots that need our attention. My intention is to influence something greater than myself, do a good thing, and support some organizations and people who are helping children, seniors, needy people in an area of crisis, institutes for cancer research, and more. All this in addition to a sportive challenge which will be worth the hurt. I wanted to have this fundraising race as a new life experience and I have to say, it has worked out already. The plan was to do it in May 2020 but due to COVID-19 I have to postpone it to May 2021. Now I’ll make the project even bigger! I’ll donate 0,10€ per kilometer I train till May 2021! During my Heart Run thru Germany I’ll donate 1€ per kilometer I run and hope that some others do almost the same!

Our Mission at Noble is to expand opportunities and enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families. Noble does not charge families for their services, as they get reimbursed through Medicaid. However, it’s not enough to cover the cost of providing quality services. That’s why Noble writes grants and host fundraising events. Unfortunately, due to COVID, we have had to cancel 2 of our 3 largest fund raising events in 2020. In the summer of 2020, I was delivering our homegrown plants by cart. I first thought of creating a website to assist me after experiencing the hassle of tracking orders and pricing. I worked on a site that users could use to document their interests and donate to the fund. I am happy to announce that thanks to the website, I have not only reached but exceeded my goal of $5,000! Each and every dollar given by you all will help the Red Cross with their ongoing COVID-19 efforts and Janyaa with helping children in India continue their education. About: Hunger is on the rise in America, compounded by the prolonged pandemic which caused extensive job losses in America. With the number of cases growing rapidly across the world, the fight against COVID-19 has to continue. The impact of this virus is profound in developing countries like India, where education took a dive because of the major digital divide. 320 million students face a lack of learning because of the school closures and not having basic internet, which is taken for granted in developed countries. I’ve decided to fight for both of these causes and started this fundraiser with the purpose to collect donations for the American Red Cross and Janyaa in India. The funds will be equally split between these foundations. The American Red Cross has adjusted their resources to provide necessities for quarantine shelters and food distribution centers. Janyaa has been helping 500,000 students across more than 900 schools over the past 11 years by building curriculum-based science & math material to help 6th - 10th grade children. To continue these efforts during this pandemic, they are organizing interactive online sessions with nearly 5000 students and working with them closely over the next few months until schools reopen their gates. Gary Dingman had been at Cisco for 17 years before loosing his valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. Gary had asked that instead of flowers to donate to cancer research, so in his honor we are collecting donations for The Center for Gastrointestinal Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute where Gary was being treated.
