Through the Global Impact Grant (GIG) Program, Cisco helps emerging non-profit organizations apply digital technology solutions to have the broadest impact in some of the most economically underserved parts of the world. This is a set of strategic partners which Cisco and Cisco Foundation support with cash grants, donations of technology, and capacity building consultations. When you contribute to this fund, you are investing in solutions that have significant positive impact on students in the region. Included in this fund are five current nonprofit partners that focus on K-8 science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs with reach in the APJC region that demonstrate the following: • Evidence based student learning • Reaching students inclusively • Positive changes in student behaviors • Persistence in STEM pathway towards a STEM career Note on Tax Deductibility: This fund includes U.S.- based organizations. U.S. employees who make a credit card donation will receive a receipt for tax deductibility for the portion of the donation contributed to these organizations. Employees outside the U.S. will not be able to receive a receipt for tax deductibility for credit card donations to organizations in this fund.

33 orphans in Kampala, Uganda have to go back to school, but don't have enough funds to pay their school taxes. By donating to this cause you are giving opportunity to 33 children to explore and study, and this is the first step to their independence. The project is an effective long-term investment as it provides educational opportunities for children and youths. Cloud & Compute builds an Inspired and Inclusive Future for All

As we know while the world has been going through a pandemic for more than a year now and functioning of education system in rural India has been affected by the same. Due to COVID-19 lockdown during last year, many people have lost the jobs and still recovering from this. Schools were closed and student's academics were affected. But now schools are opening soon and students will come into schools. But due to the lockdown and pandemic, all parents are facing a financial crisis. They are not in a financial position to pay full fees to schools, school supplies expenses, etc. Therefore to help them continue student's education Akshar Bharati is raising funds for donating school kits to underprivileged and remote areas students. In each school kit school bags and many other important school supplies are provided to the students. We are trying to raising funds for 10,000 school kits this year.

Today, education remains an inaccessible right for millions of children around the world. When a child doesn’t have access to a school it impacts every part of their life - from worldviews to life expectancy to likelihood of violence and prevalence of disease. A school is a spark which begins to shape it all. 50$ is the school tax for one kid in Africa (Uganda,Ghana,Nigeria) for 3 months. The Fall 2020 YCore cohort is partnering with Nuestra Casa to build a revenue sustainable model for their food recovery program, which will capitalize on a county initiative to reduce food waste and feed community members who face food insecurity. Your donation will help YCore recruit more fellows in the future and enable projects like this one supporting community based organizations like Nuestra Casa! YCore mobilizes young professionals to advance community-based social impact by teaching them to deploy their time, money, skills, and influence as partners and advocates. In YCore's four-month, after-work program, fellows partner with community-based nonprofits to work on a strategic volunteer project. During this time, they attend bi-weekly workshops on design thinking, nonprofit fundraising, and the systems that contribute to inequity in their communities. Nuestra Casa provides community education, leadership development, and advocacy to uplift Latino families in East Palo Alto and the mid-peninsula. To combat food waste and feed the community, Nuestra Casa has a stellar food recovery program to provide free and fresh fruit, vegetables, produce, and bread directly to families in east Palo Alto and the surrounding neighborhoods. They work directly with grocery stores to recover food and distribute it to the community, eliminating transportation needs, which can be a contributing factor to food insecurity.

By operating mini schools, children can learn safely via classes held in outdoor locations. The classes are small and typically comprise of children and teachers residing within the same hamlet. There is a great emphasis on hygiene, and all attendees are required to wear masks and sanitize their hands at regular intervals. More info can be found here. Improved access to basic necessities Asha Silicon Valley has approved funding for the setup of a sanitary napkin manufacturing unit in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, to manufacture and distribute free sanitary pads to adolescent girls in the districts of Bhilai and Durg in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. Meal programs to reduce malnutrition in Madhya Pradesh, India With the dual goal that combines tackling the most important challenges children face in the interior rural areas of Madhya Pradesh - malnutrition and education, Asha Silicon Valley partners with Parivaar to provide nutritious meals to children enabling them to learn better. More details here: bit.ly/pariasha Improving the quality of education for Musahar children in Bihar By funding the operation of special coaching classes in the Jamui district of Bihar, Asha Silicon Valley is helping reduce school dropouts among scheduled caste communities. Child-Friendly Spaces to reduce school dropouts during the post-flood season in Assam Asha Silicon Valley is funding the setup of two child-friendly spaces meant to serve as temporary classrooms immediately after floods in Assam's flood-prone districts. This will help ensure that education is not disrupted for children affected by natural disasters and can continue being taught while their classrooms undergo repair. This fund is to raise $10,000 for Nalanda 2.0 to enable it to launch Ekagrid, a first-of-its-kind world-class multidisciplinary research university in India, in 2022. Ekagrid (previously University of the Future in India) has reached an agreement with the Karnataka Government to establish Ekagrid in Bengaluru and have signed MOUs. Why does this matter? In the knowledge economy, nations with great universities will thrive. The great universities of the world - be it Stanford, UC Berkeley or MIT of today, or Nalanda of ancient India - are multidisciplinary in nature; serve as engines for research, education, and innovation; drive economic growth; solve the problems of society and humanity; and make lives better for people. However, even after over 70 years of independence, India does not have even one such world-class multidisciplinary research university. What is the current status? Nalanda 2.0 launched this university initiative in 2018. Thanks to the support of over 1075 donors to Nalanda 2.0, which includes Cisco employees and matching company contributions, and dedicated efforts of many, significant progress has been made: assembled an exceptional team, developed an actionable plan, established a Section 8 non-profit company in India with a stellar Board of Directors, announced the founding Chancellor and the founding COO, finalized branding, registered trademarks, and received approvals for 12A and 80G exemptions. Spark Program, a Bay Area non-profit mentoring program that connects students from Title I middle schools in San Francisco, Menlo Park, and East Palo Alto with mentors at companies like Facebook, Zendesk, and LinkedIn. This year, because school contributions to Spark’s programs have declined 90% due to COVID-19, Spark is raising money through a Fall Gratitude Drive to cover the operating fees that public schools are no longer able to contribute, in this challenging time.

Because we believe that every woman and girl has the right to manage her menstruation with confidence and dignity : we created Kilipads in 2013. KiliPads is a women-run social business, producing and selling reusable sanitary pads. We designed an ecofriendly and affordable product, coupled with menstrual health workshops in an attempt to break the taboo around menstruation and dispel the misinformation spread about this natural process. A KiliPads pack costs 5$ and most girls in school cannot afford it. 2020 helped highlight the discrepancy in access to tools and education for the Latinx Community. A photo of children outside of a Taco Bell went viral when it was discovered that they are attempting to access the WiFi in order to attend their classes and focus on their studies. This moment in time highlighted that this issue is a deep rooted one and we need to focus on our youth.

The Jimmy Alfano Scholarship Fund was established by The Angus Barn in honor of its employee Jimmy Alfano, who had a passion for culinary arts and mentoring young people. Teach For America (TFA) is a nonprofit organization whose stated mission is to "enlist, develop, and mobilize as many as possible of our nation's most promising future leaders to grow and strengthen the movement for educational equity and excellence." The organization aims to accomplish this by recruiting and selecting college graduates from top universities around the United States to serve as teachers. The selected members, known as "corps members," commit to teaching for at least two years in a public or public charter K–12 school in one of the 52 low-income communities that the organization serves.
