About

Tens of thousands of people have been killed and many more injured after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey on Monday, just 50 miles from the Syrian border. Since the earthquake there have been hundreds of aftershocks. The strongest was 7.5 magnitude, adding to the devastation. Many of the hardest-hit communities are in northwestern Syria, where people who have already been displaced several times by the ongoing conflict are among those whose homes were destroyed in the quakes. They are without adequate shelter, food and basic necessities as temperatures plunge well below freezing.

The recent earthquakes in Turkey have impacted INARA's operations and staff in the region. The earthquake zone is where INARA's beneficiaries live, who are already vulnerable with medical injuries and mental health issues. In response to the disaster, INARA has activated its Rapid Response Program to support those affected.

INARA has redirected all its resources to provide aid in Turkey and Syria. They have partnered with trusted local organizations to bring assistance to Northern Syria, where there is a shortage of international aid and rescue teams. The residents there urgently need diesel for rescue machinery and basic necessities such as shelter, food, medicine, and non-food items.
