Dear VMware colleagues, Being inspired by the charity causes & missions of Vietbay Teens, a group of teenage kids from many high schools in the Bay Area, I'm currently helping them with organizing their annual charity fundraising event and the celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival for children in the Bay Area. Hence, I would like to ask for your support of their fundraising campaign happening in the upcoming October. Witnessing many heartbreaking stories of victim families during the peak of the devastating COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam, this group of high school students formed back in 2021 with the mission to provide support and remedy the consequence of the pandemic. They organized fundraising events, worked both in-person and overseas with many non-profit organizations in Vietnam to support hospitals and COVID patients. As a result of their initiatives in last two years, they were able to sponsor thousands of N95 masks for hospitals in Vietnam and dozens of thousands of FREE meals for COVID-19 patients in 2021 and cancer patients in 2022 who are in difficult situations. This year, they will work with the Hearts for Hue Foundation, a NGO in Vietnam ( https://heartsforhue.org/ ) in supporting people with disabilities and healthcare and educational initiatives. Additionally, a portion of raised money is also used to organize the culture activities in Mid-Autumn Festival for the children & families in the Bay Area. Being a volunteer in helping with their activities, I am touched by their activities & missions and I personally made my donations for their charity causes and hope that I can do more to help. HelpAge India is a secular, not-for-profit organization in India, registered under the Societies’ Registration Act of 1860. Set up in 1978, the organization works for ‘the cause and care of disadvantaged older persons to improve their quality of life’ HelpAge envisions a society where elderly have the right to an active, healthy and dignified life. It recently became the first and only Indian organization to be honoured with the ‘UN Population Award 2020’ for its exemplary work in the field of ageing, relief efforts work during the Covid 19 pandemic and recognition of the organization’s outstanding contribution to population issues and efforts in the realization of older persons rights in India. Currently there are a projected 138 million elderly in India. HelpAge India voices their concerns, so they can lead secure & dignified lives. It works through 26 State Offices across India, runs numerous programs on-ground, addressing elder needs and advocating for their rights, such as their right to Universal Pension, quality Healthcare, action against Elder Abuse and many more at a national, state and societal level with Central and State governments. It advocates for elder friendly policies and their implementation thereof. The organization’s programs are focused on direct interventions in the areas of Healthcare (mobile healthcare units, cataract surgeries), Agecare (helplines, senior citizen care homes and day care centres, physiotherapy), Livelihoods (elder-self-help groups; linkages with government schemes), Disaster Response (e.g. covid19 relief response), as well as Advocacy and Awareness on rights and policies relating to elders.

Water is one of the essential commodities to human life and not accessible to 65% of the people in Africa. Inadequate access to clean water has led to high prevalence of waterborne diseases within communities. This project’s implementation will significantly improve health outcomes by enhancing sanitation practices and reducing the incidence of waterborne illnesses. This project will establish clean water wells near reliable water sources and pump the water to storage tanks strategically located above the villages. Gravity fed water will then be distributed to several key locations within the villages to be accessed by the entire community. A reliable source of water will promote better health, which is turn enables children to attend school, parents to have enough time and energy to work at home, in the garden, or at the store, allowing families to grow.

Islamic Relief is providing emergency aid to the flood-stricken regions of Libya. They are working with local partners on the ground to deliver urgently needed relief such as mattresses, blankets, food packs, and other vital aid to affected communities. Islamic Relief was one of the first humanitarian organizations to reach Derna, one of the affected cities, and has already committed an initial £100,000 to provide emergency aid. The situation in Libya is dire, with over 11,300 people reported dead and around 10,000 people still missing. The flooding has caused extensive damage to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and buildings. Schools and shops have been ordered to close. The city of Derna alone is estimated to have lost over 3,000 residents in the disaster. Islamic Relief’s response aims to address the immediate needs of flood-affected victims and provide them with essential support.

This project aims to provide financial aid to patients in India, affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy Spinal Muscular Atrophy (“SMA”) is a neuro-muscular, progressive, genetic disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It is the number one genetic cause of death for infants. SMA is caused by a mutation in the survival motor neuron gene 1 (SMN1). The SMA-affected children and adults are cognitively bright and are budding professionals in various streams, but are physically dependent on their family members, friends, or guardians for any of their daily basic mobility needs. There are 4 types of SMA, SMA Type 1 to Type 4, and many finer variations among these categories. Impact Guru identifies these patients who need financial support for their Hospital and related medical expenses, and supports them through crowdfunding and raising grants. These treatments are using USFDA-approved drugs currently available as follows: - Disease-modifying therapy: These drugs stimulate the production of SMN protein. Nusinersen (Spinraza®) is FDA-approved for both children and adults. Your provider injects the drug into the space around the spinal canal. - Gene replacement therapy: Children younger than two may benefit from a one-time intravenous (IV) infusion of a drug called onasemnogene abeparvovec-xioi (Zolgensma®). This therapy replaces a missing or faulty SMN1 gene with a functioning gene - A different medication, Risdaplam (Evrysdi®), helps adults and children older than two months. People take risdaplam daily by mouth (orally). We are currently raising funds to make medical drugs and treatment more affordable for those in need. Our goal is to support beneficiaries and provide them with access to life-saving resources that would otherwise be too expensive. (Две години подред ученически проекти от Sci-High клубовете вземат награди от състезанието SuperSTEM. През последната учебна година 2022/23 един от отборите взе награда от фестивала Fission на Американски колеж, а техен участник спечели Златен медал в предварителния кръг на международната СТЕМ олимпиада). Много от иновативните образователни проекти и инициативи са концентрирани в София и в частни школи. Ние вярваме, че децата в цялата страна имат потенциал, затова нашата цел е да имаме присъствие на място в училище и да покриваме повече области и конкретно такива, които имат по-голяма нужда от това. Тази учебна година фокусът ни е област Хасково. През 2023 година резултатът на Хасково на националното външно оценяване (НВО) в 7ми клас е 48 точки при среден за страната - 55 точки. Областта се намира на 18то място в страната по общ резултат от изпитите по БЕЛ и математика.

Because they are not able to receive proper education, it has become a negative chain of poverty that continues for generations. Some of them don't know what is right and turn to crime. In the wake of devastating natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods, providing medical assistance to affected regions like Libya and Morocco becomes a critical and compassionate mission. The immediate aftermath of such events often leaves communities in dire need of medical resources, as injuries and illnesses can rapidly escalate amidst the chaos. Mobilizing medical teams, equipped with essential supplies and expertise, is paramount in ensuring the health and well-being of those affected. These teams can provide urgent medical care, treat injuries, and offer support to traumatized individuals who may have lost homes, loved ones, and their sense of security. Additionally, efforts can be made to establish temporary clinics and hospitals, bringing healthcare services closer to the affected population. By directing funds towards medical assistance in these regions, we can make a tangible difference in saving lives, alleviating suffering, and helping communities on the path to recovery.

We believe that being different is not a disadvantage, but an advantage and an opportunity. Difference is a unique feature of children, adults, and other living beings. But to see him without fear, you have to befriend him. One of our ways of discovering the diversity of the children in our care is to provide them with constant contact with nature. To discover and to see the beauty, to enjoy and calm. True Love for Special Need Families , otherwise known as “True Love”, is a non-profit organization focus on providing love and support to kids with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Under the leadership of Kelly Shen along with the collective effort of other families affected by autism, they created True Love. The core values of True Love are to: a. Bring attention to special needs individuals in the Chinese American community; Increase the recognition, understanding and support of the challenges faced by children with special needs and their families. b. Build a social platform for these children and their families so that we can face these challenges together and grow as a community. At the same time, we seek to gather funds to support these families financially and emotionally. c. Provide scholarships along with volunteering and job opportunities for people who want to help special needs children. The organization will also provide medical assistance to Chinese communities. d. Develop a comprehensive living community for those with special needs to provide a place for them to work, socialize and live in for the rest of their lives by partnering with other organizations or companies. e. Increase communication between Chinese autism organizations, American autism organizations, and mainstream American society.

A powerful storm has triggered devastating flooding in Libya, killing over 11,300 people, with fears that the death toll will continue to rise as 10,000 people are missing. Around ten thousand people are still missing, and the country is in extreme emergency. The death toll is growing by the hour as more information emerges. At least 150 homes have been destroyed, leaving many families highly vulnerable. No matter how small, every donation can make a meaningful difference and bring hope to those impacted. A devastating flood has left thousands of families in Libya looking for shelter and safety. Whole neighborhoods have been washed away, and tens of thousands are feared missing. Over 5,000 died after Storm Daniel hit part of northeastern Libya, causing severe rains and flooding that swept away entire villages. Donating this fund will provide emergency relief and long-term support to affected communities.

Today, education remains an inaccessible right for millions of children around the world. When a child doesn’t have access to a school it impacts every part of their life - from worldviews to life expectancy to likelihood of violence and prevalence of disease. A school is a spark which begins to shape it all. 100$ is the school tax for one kid in Africa (Uganda,Ghana,Nigeria) for 3 months. In 2024, the Child and Space Association will celebrate its 20th anniversary. It all started in 2004 as a small organization, but the meeting with the children from the unfortunate home in Mogilino village transformed us into a provider of social services for children and youth with disabilities and mental suffering. Today we already manage 9 social services, with a team of 85 specialists and a very small administrative team consisting of 3 people. To mark our anniversary, we would like to organize a series of meetings where staff from our different services can come together and share their experiences, meet the children in our care and visit each other, show off and before society. Until now, we have not had such an opportunity. We also want to share with society our successes, knowledge and experience, to present our teams and our grown-up children, who are now young people looking for opportunities for realization. This project aims to provide nutritious breakfast meals to 1000 rural schoolgirls in Sana'a, Yemen. It will increase the number of girls in primary schools. It aims to reduce the children's hunger during the school day. It'll contribute to achieving gender equality between boys and girls. Besides, it'll increase attention span, facilitate learning, and obviate the need for children to leave school to find food. That will achieve Global Goals 4 (Quality Education) & 5 (Gender Equality).
