This fund will focus on rebuilding schools heavily impacted by a natural disaster in south of Brazil. Elementary School Nossa Senhora de Fatima and Preschool Soneca had lost most of its facilities and resources due to the strongest extratropical cyclone in Santo Antonio da Patrulha since 1961; Over 500 children are now unsupported with education and day care. The fund will direcly support the local community to rebuild school`s facilities, furnish classrooms, a new library, purchase IT equipment and focus on expanding the resources to increase number of full-time program capacity to help most vulnerable kids in Jau area.

How to donate: We are collecting non-perishable food items in our offices or you can make a monetary donation directly via Bright Funds. A fund has been created in Bright Funds for Feeding America, or you can donate to a local food pantry of your choice. If you aren’t near an office, but would still like to participate, items can be taken to a local food pantry. After donations have been made, send a photo of the items or the monetary donation receipt to your selected territory’s intern listed below. How scoring works: • 1 point = $1 (or one item) • Gift matching contributions via Bright Funds will not count toward the total, but employees with gift matching left for 2023 are encouraged to match their donation • If you are not officially assigned to a territory, you can select whichever one you’d like to support in the competition • Regardless of how you donate, send an email that includes the number of items or dollar amount you donated to the intern for the territory you wish to contribute to. Brave Space Alliance is a Chicago-based organization that was created to fill a gap in the organizing of and services to trans and gender-nonconforming people. Currently, very few LGBTQ social services or advocacy networks exist on the South and West Sides of Chicago. Furthermore, the few trans-specific resources in the city are located in majority-white neighborhoods on the North Side, which are inaccessible geographically, and also regularly result in the hyper-policing of trans people of color who attempt to access them.

Our goal is to raise enough funds to provide them with basic necessities such as food, shelter, and healthcare. This project aims in supporting Animals, Animals are an important part of our lives and our world. They bring joy, love, and companionship, and they deserve our care and protection. Unfortunately, many animals in India are abandoned, abused, and neglected, and they are in desperate need of help. Impact Guru is launching a fundraising cause to support animal shelters in India, where dedicated individuals work tirelessly to provide food, shelter, and medical care to rescued animals. These shelters are often understaffed and underfunded, and they rely on donations to keep their doors open and continue their life-saving work. It is a heartbreaking truth that 820 million people around the world will go to bed hungry tonight, and an additional 2 billion people don't know where their next meal will come from. Hunger is a global issue that affects people of all ages, races, and genders. The causes of hunger are complex and vary from country to country, but they often include poverty, conflict, climate change, and limited access to education and resources. The effects of hunger are devastating, resulting in malnutrition, stunted growth, and even death. It is important for individuals, communities, and governments to work together to combat hunger by providing access to nutritious food, education, and resources, as well as addressing the root causes of poverty and inequality. No one should have to go to bed hungry, and it is up to all of us to take action to end world hunger.

I find it important and difficult to decide which charity to donate to, to ensure the most impact rather than how well it is marketed. Givewell.org searches for charities that save or improve lives the most per dollar. Even well-meaning charities can fail to have impact. GiveWell provides evidence-backed analysis of effectiveness. Every quarter they announce top charities based on different criteria and show how they reached the conclusion. This fund has these top charities. It is a good way to be confident that your money is making the most impact it can make.

Music is an art form which crosses the bounds of culture, language, genre, and geography, unifying people across the globe. The ADA's ultimate goal is to ensure that people with disabilities are afforded equal opportunities to participate in public life with necessary accommodations and without discrimination based on their disability. This Scholarship was endorsed by the NAET to assist Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC ("BBBSNYC") students with essential non-tuition related expenses. Since 2018, the New York Markets team introduced a mentorship program with BBBSNYC, the nation's first and the city's largest youth mentoring organization. Rabobank staff (Wholesale, particularly with Markets) have been serving as mentors (Bigs) to the high school students (Littles) through the BBBSNYC Workplace Mentoring Program. In 2021, Rabobank expanded its relationship with BBBSNYC by establishing the Rabobank Scholarship. During the first year of offering the Rabobank Scholarship, we raised over $17,000 for ten Littles! He was happy, healthy, strong, and mischievous. He loved chasing his older brothers and sneaking treats to the family dog. Shortly after his first birthday he started getting sick. There was no rhyme or reason for it. He got sick back-to-back and began to struggle. When cancer was the leading prognosis, his doctors pushed for Axel to get more lab work ASAP. That push led him to the emergency room, which saved his life. It was ultimately discovered that he did not have cancer but instead was in full heart failure. After every level of testing, the cause is still unknown. He was fading fast and his best hope was being transported to Stanford Children’s Hospital. Axel held on long enough to be placed from the gurney to his hospital bed where his vitals plummeted. Emergency procedures were used to save his life that night. His parents could only watch in horror as the medical teams tried their best. His parents remember optimistically, yet naively, asking, “there’s still a chance his heart will just heal itself, right?” There was a pause and a very soft, but firm response. “Axel is critically ill. A part of his heart has died. He needs a transplant. Axel needs a new heart.” Since then, teams of doctors and machines have been used to keep him going. Axel is recovering on a Ventricular Assist Device (VAD). He is hooked up to machines that keep him alive and he cannot leave the hospital until after transplant. Axel's parents take turns being with him at the hospital and being home with his brothers. The need to be present with Axel has caused the family to be reduced to one income. For Axel and his family, this is a difficult marathon. With medical bills and expenses beginning to pile on, the family is seeking help from COTA to keep their family strong and help relieve some of the financial stress as they move through this journey together. The Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

June is Pride Month. Pride is celebrated annually in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots, and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Americans. This Pride Fund supports organizations that promote the safety and advance the wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ community through advocacy, direct services, mental and physical health accessibility, education, and public policy changes. Helen Keller was an American humanitarian, author, and activist who is widely known for her wide array of accomplishments despite contracting an illness at 19 months old which ultimately left her both deaf and blind. Keller went on to pursue a successful career as a writer and lecturer as well as within the sociopolitical sphere, advocating for women's suffrage and world peace while campaigning on behalf of those living with disabilities. Keller worked for the American Foundation for the Blind and co-founded the American Civil Liberties Union, and her legacy lives on through the work of the organizations included in this Fund. In celebration of Keller's birthday on June 27th, Bright Funds created the Helen Keller Birthday Fund. This Fund is spotlighting organizations who are doing the critical work of advocating for people with disabilities through education, policy, research and direct services. The organizations in this Fund have a collective goal of ensuring that people with disabilities have access to the resources and supports they need in order to succeed within communities that are equitable and accessible for all.
