Syrian Refugee Crisis Fund

The mediterranean refugee crisis is worsening, with millions of people displaced and in peril. People need food, shelter and security.

The war has resulted in over 4 million Syrians refugees and double the number have been displaced by more than four years of war. We are in the midst of the Europe's biggest refugee movement since WWII. The Syrian Refugee Relief Fund is dedicated to supporting organizations working hard to provide humanitarian aid to the countless refugees fleeing the war zones in Syria.

The Rohingya population, a mostly Muslim ethnic minority from Myanmar's Rakhine state, have been systematically persecuted and attacked. Since August, over 615,000 Rohingya refugees have fled Myanmar for Bangladesh. In response to this humanitarian crisis, we established the Rohingya Refugee Relief Fund to support nonprofit organizations providing critical emergency aid like shelter materials, clean water, health clinics, and support for survivors of gender-based violence.

After enduring more than a week of violent clashes between federal and regional forces, civilians in the Tigray region of Ethiopia are in crisis. Communication networks are down, banking services are halted, roads are blocked and there are shortages of basic supplies. Fearing for their lives and the lives of their families, thousands of children, women and men have been forced to flee into Sudan. UNHCR urgently need to scale up supplies so that they are ready to respond as the situation worsens. More than 30,000 refugees have arrived in Sudan exhausted and scared and are being sheltered in transit centers near the border. Water and meals are being provided and UNHCR and the Sudanese authorities are working around the clock to set up a new refugee site to shelter them. Your donation will allow UNHCR to continue to provide urgent, lifesaving help to refugees.

Recent months have brought civil conflict around the world; the Afghan crisis continues to rage, with over 700,000 Afghans newly displaced in 2021 alone. More recently, we have all watched with horror as millions of Ukrainians have fled their homes in search of safety from the Russian invasion, many on foot, carrying young children, or both. As hard as it is to watch and feel helpless from afar, we want to spotlight two non-profit organizations working to help the refugees from Afghanistan and Ukraine. We are setting a goal for our employees to raise $2,500.00 to help fund these two organizations and the critical work they are doing. For every $1.00 donated to our humanitarian aid fund, $0.50 will go to Operation Sacred Promise (OSP) and $0.50 will go to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees-USA (UNHCR). Both Bill and Meghan have been particularly focused on refugees of war and wish to help advance these important causes. As such, in order to kick off Easterly's first campaign, both Bill Trimble and Meghan Baivier have generously agreed to match these donations. Bill will match all donations made to UNHCR up to $1,500, and Meghan will also match all donations made to OSP up to $1,500. So now your $1 donation becomes $3 of support, and our $2,500 goal can grow to $8,000 through corporate and personal matching!
