The 2019 California Fire Response and Recovery Fund

About

On Friday October 25th, 2019, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in response to the fires raging in Northern and Southern California. Both the Kincade fire in Sonoma County, Northern California, and the Tick fire in Los Angeles County, Southern California, have caused several evacuations impacting hundreds of thousands of people within the community. Bright Funds has established The 2019 California Fire Response and Recovery Fund to support the communities impacted by these fires. This Fund is comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits providing emergency response in the region. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. We have initially selected organizations that are providing immediate relief needs, including rescue efforts and medical assistance. The composition of the nonprofits in this Fund are subject to change as we learn more about the needs on the ground.

Your Donation Supports

Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

As a member of the Emergency Network of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank provides vital food resources year-round for people who are fighting hunger, but would serve also as a first responder in the case of a natural disaster.

California Community Foundation

The California Community Foundation's Wildfire Relief Fund supports intermediate and long-term recovery efforts for major California wildfires, as well as preparedness efforts. Grants from the Wildfire Relief Fund have supported those who were displaced or lost housing, belonging and/or employment, or suffered physical or mental health problems. Their grants have also provided funding to rebuild homes, provide case management services, mental health services, and general financial assistance. They have assisted California wildfire victims with follow up medical care and supplies; provided respiratory equipment and information to people with lung disease; educated homeowners about green rebuilding; and provided disaster preparedness information.

Community Foundation Sonoma County

The Sonoma County Resilience Fund stands at the ready to support long-term recovery efforts. First established in 2017 to support recovery efforts from the North Bay Firestorm, their Fund continues to be a source of long-term aid for Sonoma county. They plan to provide aid to help those impacted by the 2019 fi heal from the long-term effects of trauma and to foster housing solutions for the community.
