The School for Arts and Crafts “Dimitar Ekimov” develops and applies a
unique approach towards the education of disadvantaged children. More
than 30 children from families living in extreme poverty are being raised and
educated at the boarding school.
The mission of the school is to provide an opportunity for talented and gifted
children at risk to receive free quality education and upbringing; to help the
development and improvement of their natural potential and turn it into a
capital for their future; to provide an individual approach and professional
care, excellent facilities and environment filled with comfort, peace and love;
to promote the growth of good and smart people motivated and confident to
realize their professional and life start; to provide the best team of teachers,
mentors, experts and inspiring artists who lead children to self-knowledge
and self-expression.
A team of teachers, mentors and a psychologist are taking care of the
children on a daily basis, year round.
The school is entirely funded by voluntary contributions of generous people
and organizations and any help counts.
The biggest new project happening right now is the building of the school’s
kitchen and installing of food service equipment. Currently the school is
using a food catering service, which is extremely expensive and
unsustainable in the long run.
