Black History Month 2022 Lucid & Cint Campaign Fund

About

Black History Month was first proposed in the United States by black educators and the Black United Students at Kent State University in February 1969. The first official celebration took place one year later, from January 2 to February 28, 1970, making it almost 2 full months long. Six years later, Black History Month was being celebrated all across the country in educational institutions, centers of Black culture and community centers, both great and small. When President Gerald Ford recognized Black History Month, during the celebration of the United States Bicentennial, he urged Americans to "seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history". We encourage you to join Lucid & Cint in celebrating Black History Month by giving to this campaign, or by searching on Bright Funds for a nonprofit that is doing the work to fight racism and intolerance in order to create a more just, equitable world.

Facing History and Ourselves Inc.

Facing History and Ourselves uses lessons of history to challenge teachers and their students to stand up to bigotry and hate. Facing History uses a unique approach that integrates civics, equity, and social-emotional learning (SEL) into core academic content. When Facing History pedagogy and curriculum are integrated into the classroom, educators provide opportunities for students to develop SEL and civic skills and dispositions, including tolerance and empathy, the ability to communicate across difference, a capacity for ethical reflection, a commitment to the common good, and a belief that each person's choices and actions matter, all of which prepare students to be informed, thoughtful, and productive individuals.

NAACP Empowerment Programs, Inc.

The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.
